Georgia State Advocacy Day 2020

Georgia State Advocacy Day 2020

Advocacy Committee

GAASLA seeks to raise awareness of the field of landscape architecture and support policies which are aligned with values promoted by ASLA, including good stewardship of the environment, healthy communities, recognition and conservation of historic cultural heritage, greener transportation corridors, and effective, energy and cost-efficient landscape design.  We are looking for better, more effective ways to bring our voice to the forefront.

PROTECT AND DEFEND LICENSURE

The practice of landscape architecture should keep the public safe from hazards, protect and maximize the use of natural systems and resources, and prevent damage to public or private property from changes in the built environment. The education, experience, and examination required to earn a license ensures that licensed landscape architects can effectively protect the public and our communities from harm.

A landscape architect’s qualifications are based on education, experience, and examination in the field of landscape architecture. The law defines landscape architectural practice as the offering or furnishing of professional services in connection with a landscape architecture project that does not require the seal of an architect, land surveyor, professional engineer, or structural engineer.

Become a ‘Friend of Landscape Architecture’

Donate to the ga asla fund today

In an effort to protect your legal rights as a licensed Landscape Architect in the state of Georgia, the Chapter has initiated the Advocacy Fund to make sure that our Georgia legislature is aware of our concerns and investment as it is related to the Landscape Architecture profession. This effort will largely happen through lobbying our legislature, using a lobbyist to monitor any law changes, and maintain working relationships with Georgia lawmakers. We are seeking donations to the Advocacy Fund to continue supporting these efforts. Become a Friend of Landscape Architecture by donating today! In order to donate to this fund, please give us some information associated with your donation.
